Description
The hammerhead shark is one of the most emblematic marine species of the Galapagos. The Galapagos Marine Reserve is one of the best places in the world to see them. Hammerhead sharks live in temperate and tropical waters of the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian oceans. Most adults lead solitary lives, but can sometimes be seen in pairs. However, in some parts of the world, including Darwin Island in the northern Galapagos, several hundred hammerheads band together to form large baby nurseries and get ready to migrate toward the poles for the summer.
